Not only were students encouraged to dress up in burqas in a world geography class, but they were also told to write an essay on a story in the Washington Post that blamed Egypt’s major issues on democracy and not the Muslim Brotherhood. They were also told to refer to Muslim terrorists as freedom fighters.

And apparently all this was based on a specific curriculum that favors Islam over other religions:

FOX NEWS – A Texas lawmaker is launching an investigation after a teacher reportedly invited female students to dress up in Islamic garb and told then told her classroom they should call Muslim terrorists – freedom fighters. …

The lesson on Islam was taught in a world geography class at Lumberton High School. The teacher brought burqas and other Islamic clothing for the female students to wear. They were also assigned to write an essay based on a Washington Post story that blamed Egypt’s troubles on democracy – instead of the Muslim Brotherhood.

“I am outraged,” one of the parents, who asked not to be identified, told Fox News. “I felt my blood pressure go through my head.” …

The parents said they confronted their daughter and told her to explain exactly what she had been taught.

“They were asked about their perception of Islam,” she said. “Most of the class said they thought about terrorism. And her response was, ‘we’re going to change the way we perceive Islam.’”

The teacher reportedly told the students that she did not necessarily agree with the lessons –but she was required to teach the material.

The Lumberton Independent School District released a statement to Fox News defending the class.

“The lesson that was offered focused on exposing students to world cultures, religions, customs and belief systems,” the statement read. “The lesson is not teaching a specific religion, and the students volunteered to wear the clothing.”

The school district said Judaism and Christianity were also part of the lesson. However, the parents said Christianity was not discussed in the classroom.

“The Christian perspective was not taught,” she said. “They went in-depth into Islam and I’m not comfortable with it.” …

Turns out, this Islamic lesson plan was part of some curriculum called CSCOPE that apparently favors Islam over other religions:

The parents said they immediately contacted the principal of the high school who defended the program and said it was required under CSCOPE – a controversial electronic curriculum system that provides online lesson plans for teachers.

“The principal told me it was world geography and they have to learn this stuff,” she said.

However, the school district said the lesson taught at the high school was not part of written CSCOPE lesson.

“This is the normal answer from every school using CSCOPE,” said Janice VanCleave, a vocal critic of the program and the founder of Texas CSCOPE Review. “They are definitely promoting the Islamic religion.”

VanCleave said the trouble is that teachers are not giving students the full story.

“They are not telling students how these young women are treated in this religion,” she told Fox News. “In the Islamic countries women are not treated well at all.”

Last month, evidence was presented at a state hearing showing that CSCOPE offered a number of lessons about Islam.

One particular lesson instructed teachers to provide classroom readings of selected texts from the Koran.

Students were also taught that Allah is God.

CSCOPE offered no comparable lessons on Christianity or Judaism, VanCleave told Fox News.

Also, here’s a note from Dave Bellow, an alumni of the Texas high school who was contacted by a resident with a student in the class. He writes:

I was contacted by a Lumberton resident with a student in this class, she said this Burqa incident was part of the regular CSCOPE lesson taught to the students and not just some extra curricular activity or student led project. The students were not forced to wear the Burqas, but the Burqas were there as part of the lesson and students were encouraged to try them on. That being said, it was confirmed that everything else being reported as happening in this Lumberton class is true, including the students being taught not to call a terrorist a terrorist and instead call them freedom fighters. This is outrageous!

Go read his full article here where he has more info on CSCOPE.

In response to the Burqa incident that was part of the regular CSCOPE lesson taught to the students in a Texas classroom, I live in Houston and my three daughters went through the public school system. My reaction to this segment is complete disbelief. My questioning would not start with the teacher, nor the principal, nor the superintendent, nor the Texas State Board of Education, but rather the Governor of Texas. I would ask Governor Perry to enlighten me as to what is going on in the Texas public school system! I am terrified for my grandchildren to be educated in this manner. Grammy in Houston

Keep your kids in public schools, let them be indoctrinated into the New World Order, and just shut up about it alread. That is obviously what you want if your kids are still in public schools. Here comes the "Oh I can't afford private school or homeschool". You can afford anything you want bad enough. How much are you kids worth to you? My grandkids are out of that quagmire.

If schools in Texas can push this crap, we have a real problem in the USA. Time to wake up, folks.

Unbelievable......... a) public school are sick and b), we invited the Muslims to settle here in large numbers ever since 9//1/01. We have ourselves to blame and our obsession with immigration.

Surprise surprise. More Pro-Islam propaganda showing up in our schools. This nonsense needs to stop.

Islam is creeping into our public schools...it's probably already established in Detroit and the surrounding areas. Within a few years the US will have a mess on its hands as muslims start to exert political power and start inserting sharia laws into our codes.

American Law in American Courts needed in all 50 states.

The more I learn about the Muslim schools the fewer solutions i come up with. But at the very least, if there can be no Judeo-Christian values imparted in our public schools then zero tolerance for the middle eastern belief as well.

If they want to teach our kids about all religions then the good and the bad of each needs to be part of the lesson plans.

Well, Scoop, your site is awesome, and I'm trying to visit more often. You can tell I'm a newbie here.

h/t to you, Scoop, for finding a compelling way to inspire me to post: A story which mentions freedom fighters 3 (!) times? C'mon, that's as subtle as a Mack truck ;-)

OK, I'll take the bait. I was torn as a Disqus newbie: maybe my handle would send the wrong message. I went to Conservapedia and they advised:

******

"Freedom Fighters" are often seen as terrorists; this distinction depends almost entirely on who you ask.

******

So I added 1776 in front, to honor our Founding Fathers. None dare call them terrorists!

I am delighted to see this site using the "older" flavor of Disqus, since I see it as **vastly** superior!! One aspect of the newer Disqus is a minor plus: it tends to better reveal how busy or dormant one's Disqus Dashboard is configured. Since I am following 43 people, with 11 following me, let's just say I'm self-experimenting with information overload ;-)

I tend to cross-pollinate ideas via several Disqus sites. For all who click my avatar, then "Activity", you'll find a cornucopia of headlines. I may only post on 1 of 10 threads, but I do enjoy making the rounds.

To my new buddies here at TRS, I ask patience of my fellow patriots. I keep getting pulled into dialogs with forums where they know me pretty well already. My heart is heavy, since I have not yet fully replied to the many kind people who welcomed me here last week. If the threads stay open, I will reply. Otherwise, I'll seek out new threads and connect there.

Again, Scoop, your site is *very* impressive. God bless you, and keep fighting the good fight!

Warm Regards,

Freedom

LEAVE MY RELIGION THE H-E-DOUBLE L ALONE!!!!!!

America (or as it was for the longest time) has always been following the judeo-christian values since it was established by the constitution. So STOP shoving that stinkin' Sharia law bullcrap on us!

Screw this teacher that tried to implant the most barbaric religion as "the religion of peace" Peace my ass, if peace was demogoging women like they were mere objects, discriminating and treating them with disrespect, than I don't want it!

Go to your Lybia or Syria or Egypt or Iran since you seem to love to be treated like crap! But not in my country!

*excuse me, I have to go bang my head on the wall a few hard times*

Today's News India: Muslims burn and loot 200 Hindu homes.

This week, there have been two bombings in cities across India.

Islamists are trying to take over northern India.

The same thing occurs in every country where muslim bullies are allowed to gain any number.

Here's a review of the last few days of Islamic actions:

2013.02.24 (Jalalabad, Afghanistan) - A Fedayeen suicide bomber sends two souls to Allah.

2013.02.23 (Ngalda, Nigeria) - Boko Haram storm a small town late at night and murder six villagers.

2013.02.23 (Gombe, Nigeria) - Fundamentalists drive by a card game and shoot five people to death.

2013.02.22 (Kogom, Nigeria) - Fulani Muslims hack ten Christian family members to death including five small children.

2013.02.22 (Khalil, Mali) - Three other people are killed by Fedayeen suicide bombers.

2013.02.22 (Halaiwat, Iraq) - Seven volunteers at a checkpoint are executed in cold blood by al-Qaeda gunmen.

SCOPE has been cited before for its hidden agendas and progressive doctrines taught to students and hidden for the most part from parents. Administrators have denied the agenda and teachers have been sworn to secrecy about it or lose their jobs.

“They were asked about their perception of Islam,” she said. “Most of the class said they thought about terrorism."

Wow, I don't know whatever gave them that idea. After all, there are so many Lutheran terrorists out there and the number of Catholic suicide bombers is just terrible. And I don't even want to know how many beheadings, stonings, or hangings the Protestants are responsible for. Face it, Muslims and Islam have a really bad public relations problem and deservedly so. To make the world think otherwise is just not the truth. All people have to do is look at the news each night to see the horrors Islam produces. A public school class certainly can't hide that, nor should it.

famouswolf
famouswolf

Actually, the msm doesn't say anything about most of the horrors ongoing every day. Check out Atlas Shrugs. It's getting worse every day. Girls maimed for turning down some guy making a pass (and blaming her for 'tempting' him), shot for admiring obama (no less), etc etc. Slaughtering a church full of worshippers in Africa, destroying homes in India, attacking a teen dance in Pakistan with ak47s, beheading Coptics and making videos of that, it just goes on and on. Every day, every hour. If the news were to be honest about it, they would not have time to televise or report it all. And most of it is worse than some of the school shootings in this country. We have violent sick individuals, with Islam you are talking a violent sick culture.

The left are such fools, encouraging and inviting the very horrors they accuse us on the right of. Want theocracy and fascism? Hey lefties, just keep on keeping on.

They don't have a fraction of the public relations problem they deserve...either one of 'em.

Makes my blood boil too.

Those girls seem to be laughing wearing a full burka.

Girls, have you read a novel called "A Thousand Suns"? It's all about burka wearing women and how they are treated, for example, a female GYN who examines you and has to use the same rubber glove she used on a dozen other patients. Or the husband who beats his wife behind closed doors where it sounds to the children "like a board hitting a slab of meat." It's really a good read but you won't read it twice and it would knock the grins off your faces.

If you are teaching Islam and teaching it in even a remotely sympathetic light then you are promoting and teaching Islam. Ironically other schools across the country haven't had any problem in this area...why is that?

As to the girls volunteering, it is of no matter. The clothing should of never been there to begin with. If one of them demonstrated how to jump in traffic by volunteering would it still be right?
