Sunday Matinée: Understanding what our brave men go through in Afghanistan

In light of the news today that 2 more Americans have lost their lives in Afghanistan in a firefight between the Afghan National Army and ISAF, I decided to cut the video below from one of my favorite shows that I saw last night on TV. It’s from 2011 and is a documentary-series from the front lines in Afghanistan that follows a team around whose sole mission is to find IEDs buried in the roads and destroy them. While I’ve seen many episodes from this series, the one I saw last night struck me as the most powerful I’ve ever seen as showed our men in actual combat.

The team had just spent all day blowing up several bombs and were on their way back to their camp as they began taking fire from a Taliban ambush. That is where it begins:

These men are no longer in Afghanistan as they returned home. But I thought this was a great way for us to see just what our men and women are doing through for the sake of our freedoms.
