Tavis Smiley exposed on Morning Joe for saying Bush lied to get us in Iraq war

Reflecting on the events that came after 9/11 on Morning Joe today, Tavis Smiley, speaking his ‘truth’, made the long hailed assertion by the left that Bush lied to get us into the Iraq war. He was quickly challenged on this by Jon Meacham, who asked him point blank if he believes that Bush intentionally misled the American people in the case for war. Smiley then began to play a Clintonesque game of what “lied” really means, trying to clarify it so that he wasn’t on the record saying that Bush ‘intentionally’ misled the American people. But not even Joe Scarborough would let him get away with that, telling him not to back down now, but to speak to his ‘truth’. Meacham stepped in again and lightly admonished Smiley by saying that he doesn’t believe that Bush lied to get us into the Iraq war and to suggest otherwise is corrosive to the public dialogue that we just don’t need.

It goes back and forth a little longer but Joe Scarborough eventually nails him on the fact that the intelligence that Bush was getting in 2002 on WMDs was the very same intelligence that the Democrats were promoting for the past three years, even noting that on the eve of Bush’s inauguration both the New York Times and the Washington Post both said that Saddam Hussein and his WMDs were the greatest foreign policy threat to George W. Bush:

How is it that Smiley agrees with Scarborough at the end on his point about Washington DC sickness? He’s part of it as was shown in this very clip! This is, once again, evidence of the blatant and partisan dishonesty that occupies many on the left that is tearing this country apart.
