I seem to believe that if the largest and most despicable racial climate in American history was erased by Republicans, we might view that as historical evidence that democrats, not republicans, are the racist party. I was reading comments, I usually don’t engage in these types of “battles,” because you get a lot of the same as you would get on HuffPo. Ridiculously narrow view of history, the notion that the Republican Party (or Dem party) is the party that did everything for civil rights. That’s just inaccurate. A knowledge of history is one that gives a complete picture, one of which can’t be summed up in all too few characters (and one that gives credit and blame to both sides).
I’m no Democrat. I’m the type of person that believes there is a balanced approach to everything. I’m libertarian at core, but I can’t bring myself to accept that our country should not take additional steps to help those in need. I believe many drugs should be legalized, but I also believe in hard limits on welfare (including the obvious drug testing for welfare), but I don’t believe in parties. I thought the Tea Party was the same way, which is why I joined in 2009. When the calls for freedom and liberty were used as a medium for hate of poor people, gay people, American Muslims, and as a platform for a lot of moral legislation, I soon learned that this group was as hateful and vehement as any group out there. One guy posted “well you can find this on liberal websites.” That’s the type of mindset that keeps us in this gutter. I just wish more people on both sides agreed to it.
The only rebuttal against the racist remark that I brought up was by one person, who still granted him a free pass “because it was funny.”
It’s funny to watch people attack me, they immediately determine that I’m a progressive, or a democrat. Oh, how simple people break down complex issues.

I don’t recall “labeling” you as anything. However, from your comments it appears to my eyes that you’re as guilty of judging the whole on the words of a few as anyone else. People often base their observations on personal experience, it may come off to someone who is overly sensitive to ethnic bias (I feel that word “racist” is an incorrect term) as a slur or slight, but then they are also responding based on personal experiences. That said is it at all surprising after two years of being demonized as “racists” for speaking out against what they perceive as flawed and destructive policies, that those who have been so demonized would start to “fight back ” or lash out in a similar fashion? Your closing comment tells me a great deal, about you and is indicative of the exact aloof “judgmentalism” that is tearing the nation to pieces. You really should remove that plank from your eye.

My daughter’s school application says, “white.” So is everyone that isn’t colorblind a racist, or is everyone that can’t distinguish color just a bunch of idiots that skipped prekindergarten coloring class? Seriously, is the sky blue or indigo or peach? Is the ocean blue or forest green? You liberals are being taught that self evident facts (skin color) are naughty. This is why you guys are referred to as freak shows and mental midgets. Help yourself and go buy a box of crayons. Without looking at each crayon, try to identify the color. If you can’t, that is your ideological side of your brain in overdrive, completely blocking out the rational, common sense part of your brain from functioning. With time and objective observation, even a liberal can come back to reality.

It’s not the notion of the color, is it Steve? Race, as you are taught in any sociology class, is a social concept. Sure we all are different colors, but who is white? Do you know a White person? Does the crayon look like human skin? No, we are all different shades of some sort, but then again, it’s when you choose to use the words. We use our words for a reason. Everytime I talk about a person, I don’t indicate their color, or their height, or weight typically, unless it applies.
We could give him the benefit of the doubt and call him a descriptive person, but you know as well I do he mentioned it for a reason. So we can have honest debate about this, or you can just call me a freak show. It’s funny how when challenged, just like Obama, you often resort to name calling or all around denial.

It may be that no one is exactly a white or black color- I have seen some pretty pale folks, and some pretty dark folks, but yes we are all shades. You seem to miss the point though, while most folks, all those of us here included, don’t consider ourselves in any color when we chat and comment on here- but we are so ingrained by anything government to either put on a hyphen or state your race. Every form from school to marriage licenses to birth and death certificates, we have to mark off the “race” box. I was born in Canada- and though I am not yet a citizen, I consider myself an AMERICAN. I am not a white American, not Canadian American- just an American. I get so tired of people hyopenating everything! I am CAUCASION- more brown than white, and since I am adopted, I have no idea what racial makeup I may have. I have a Roman nose, I tan dark, I have blonde streaks in my hair (the parts that aren’t gray), I talk with my hands like an Italian or Jewish person, and I argue everything to death, also like a Jewish person. What it all boils down to is this. God made all of us, different, yet in His image. No matter the shade of skin color, everyone is made up of the same “stuff”, and God looks at the heart, not the color. I would not presume to speak for Steven or any of the folks here- but I think that most of us agree with Dr. King in saying that we are to judge a man by the content of his character, not the color of his skin. Too many people on the left seem to equate color with character, and we’ve seen the fruits of that practice.

The Tea Party members were very classy in their confrontation with Obama. He simply doesn’t agree with individual liberty, government spending accountability, or limited government. Also, he dismisses the economic theories that have proven time and time again to grow economies. Instead, he believes in economic theory that destroys economies, as has been shown, also, time and time again. The problem is that free market, Hayek and Friedman economists aren’t idealists, but realists. Obama and the democrat party fancy fiction and despise realists, when the world operates by fact; this is the problem. Until politicians grasp the difference between fact and fiction, we will constantly have to tussle with big government over who is planted in reality, and who is living in outer space.
