I must say this letter or any letter that is or would be sent from any member of the republican party with a few exceptions is treated like junk mail by obama straight to the trash without even reading it... I just do not understand the lack of understanding any and all have with obama - he obama is a evil lunatic with socialist ideas and dreams of tyrannical rule and that's the short version!!! This thing called president cares not about Constitutional law - Criminal law - americans - america it only caters to the brain dead and politically blind and dumb and yet cares not even about them...

This guy is turning out to be an awsesome choice for the Tea Party. This is the kind of Republican leadership that we need in the House and Senate. I think that Horrible Hagel and Muhammed Brennan will be confirmed anyways. Unfortunately, evil is like bad weather, sometime it comes in waves.

Really? This is downright pathetic! THIS is their idea? Begging Obama to please, if he could find it in his heart, to withdraw Hagel as a nominee? Is this what the Republican Party has come to?
These ARE LIBERALS! They show no mercy! They show no refrain! They are evil! Do you really think OBAMA mistakenly nominated Hagel? He KNEW Hagel's record before he nominated him and believed him to be the best man for the job. Obama is NOT going to withdraw this nomination because to do so would undermine Obama's destructive course for our country. Obama has the Republicans right where he wants them -- under his thumb. Do you really believe that he is going to concede?
The naivety of the people in this nation and especially those in the Republican establishment is downright pathetic.
When are we going to wake up and resolve the fact that this man cannot be reasoned with? This man is evil. And you cannot reason with evil!
I cannot speak for them or procedural methods but if Ted Cruz signed on there is a reason. Maybe it is only for when the sh!t hits the fan and they say it was Obama's choice I don't know. Maybe there is another part we are unaware of.
I can say this with certainty, I prefer this than a yes vote or only a no vote. They need to make noise. Maybe someone in the MSM will wake up and run with this.
Yeah, cuz that strategy's been working really well. The Republicans have nothing to hold over Obama so long as the media protects him, so that won't work. This whole exercise is utterly pointless and desperate.
Sharyl Attkisson from CBS is still pursuing Benghazi. As Cruz said, this is unprecedented. We also have these guys all over Twitter with their positions. Let's give them credit for making a stand, communicating their position.
stage9, come on! The republicans are in the minority and not all of that minority is even in support of what is needed to eliminate this traitor, Hagel, from becoming Secretary of Defense. They are trying everything they can. They know the letter won't go far but that in addition to the shameful hearing by Hagel, along with a few democrats also asking the President to nominate someone else, and internet media outlets is part of the strategy. Obama is evil which is why I completely disregard Sen. Rand Paul's and his $600,000 payback which is insignificant in the big picture.
Do you think it will work? I mean c'mon. I find the action insulting. And Obama is laughing. You couldn't ask for a better scenario if you're Obama. He holds all the cards and he knows it!
And if by some miracle Obama does decide to concede this nomination, I will be the first to congratulate Mr Cruz and company.
As long as the Repubics just throw the folks a bone now and again all will be well.

That is disappointing, but Paul did vote no on Hagel during the first vote.
THis is Paul's biggest question mark in the area of foreign policy. We'll see if he votes no once the vote comes up again.

John, it is not "irrelevant" what we think about a presidential cabinet nominee. These people get appointed to serve 'we the people', not the other way around. Excuse me if I get indignant when I hear Hagel has called our country "the world's bully", or or accuses our ally Israel of "sickening slaughter" when they defend themselves from terrorists. The 'public' you fear are uninformed idiots, & most don't know Hagel from a bagel. For the rest of us, to demand that an anti-American cabinet nominee be blocked is both our right & our duty.
it's irrelevant what we think, the president who has just been re-elected wants him as his defense secretary if you think the public will support the GOP blocking him then your nuts, it will just cost us support with the public and make us look like idiots. He's the president's choice and if Cruz doesn't like it then he can vote against it but demanding he withdraws or trying to block him is dumb.
You've got to be kidding. Did you not watch Hagel's confirmation hearing? The man is anti-American and anti-semitic. Check out Cruz's questioning of him on youtube, and see just how "honorable" he is. Kerry is just as bad. He served all of 4 months in Vietnam, then came home and slammed this country and the men he served with.

voting for a nominee is inconsequential compared to actual votes on bills. The main question is are they qualified and are they honorable. Despite what you think about Kerry or Hagel there's no doubt that as former senator's they're honorable and qualified and there appears no good reason why they shouldn't be confirmed. It's not like they've taken bribes or been charged with a crime, why shouldn't the president pick his cabinet?> he won the election. I think this is what Rand's thinking is on nominations
This is just all political posturing from Cruz and other senators. They would probably vote against their own mother if Obama picked her. It's a cheap way to get headlines and to look like they're "fighting" the president. it's kind of sad and the public will not support the GOP blocking the president's nominations to his cabinet so they should just find some other fight to have preferably on policy and put their energy there.
No he did not vote against Kerry. Now the question is why? Could it be that he shares Kerry's ideology, specifically about Israel? Given that Kerry is all over the Middle East visiting with all countries, except, Israel! So what does that say about the President's foreign policy strategy and where Sen. Rand Paul stands with his strategy of containment?
