This is just a great story about educators in Texas learning how to handle a gun so that one day they can protect their students:

Today's 2nd Amendment Observation:

The line in the sand is being drawn right before our eyes and our individual liberty, in a tug-of-war for the balance of power, is now very rapidly being pulled over that line.

POWER... and BALANCE. The time is right now, folks.

The people of the United States are a unique bunch in all the world's history. What makes us so different from other societies is not so much the fact that we enjoy individual liberty; indeed the eloquence of it is really found in the MANNER in which we have secured such liberty. The answer is found in the meaning and implication of the word "sovereign".

Americans actually enjoy an existence antithetical to man's natural tendency to gravitate toward a leader, which has historically and for the most part, been a "king". In other words, people of all stripes have historically sought out a "sovereign" to lead them through the ages. For 235+ years America's founding principles worked perfectly in creating 310 million people whom have no king because they, now the sovereign, have no need for a king. The people of this nation ruled themselves and the nation thrived. In doing so the people were, for all intents and purposes, exercising their SOVEREIGN POWER over their own government.

POWER... and BALANCE.

Sadly, the people started to give it all up 100 years ago this month by my estimation.

It has been a downhill slide ever since as the people, little by little over time, subsequently ALLOWED THEMSELVES TO NO LONGER UNDERSTAND THEMSELVES TO BE "THE" SOVEREIGN. Basically, we stopped teaching the children of this nation about their incredible American birthright; how individual sovereignty supersedes government power.

Of course, regular visitors to RS understand our Constitution grants us this sovereignty; too bad 99.999% of the rest of America doesn't. Nevertheless, we also know that the balance of power that we enjoy over government, is at best on shaky, barely equal footing.

The ONLY reason today that the balance of power has not shifted entirely over to the federal government is the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. There was a time when the 1st and the 2nd Amendment worked in conjunction as the foundational bulwark that served to ensure such individual sovereignty; unfortunately the 1st Amendment has become a casualty of ineffectiveness through the pretzel logic of "precedence". Today, the burden of the securing the delicate balance of power of the sovereign individual over government rests entirely upon the 2nd Amendment. Absolutely nothing else is left.

Which brings us to where the sovereignty of the individual and indeed the future of any measure of self-directed "liberty" is literally hanging by a mere strand of thread. Having ALMOST completely acquiesced the balance of power to government and abdicated our EFFECTIVE individual sovereignty, we and the principles upon our great nation was founded stand completely vulnerable to extinction.

The tipping point, the shifting of POWER from one sovereign to our new sovereign is not yet entirely complete. This camel's back will break the moment the federal government begins to establish ANY LISTS OF ANY KIND respecting the people's EXERCISE OF ANY RIGHTS AND ESPECIALLY INALIENABLE RIGHTS. Today the 2nd Amendment, tomorrow????

The implementation of Universal background checks IS A LINE IN THE SAND.

Federal firearms registry of any kind IS A LINE IN THE SAND.

I don't know if you happened to see Glenn's show last week about Waco and Ruby Ridge, but this memo coming this close on it's heels really gives me the heebie jeebies. It would at any time, but particularly so when I have the details of those two travesties by government agencies fresh in my mind.

No, I didn't see the show. Funny, in a scary way, that those travesties were conducted by a democrat administration. If the democrats get any more wrong in their ideology you'll be able to smell the smoke from distant galaxies.

Actually Ruby Ridge was during the old man Bush presidency (1992) but we know he supports the same agenda of the left - and "the new world order".

More power to the educators and the good pastor. What kind of mindset precludes protection for children. If nuts go to "gun free" institutions to kill without hindrance, why should there not be some level of protection for the educators and students?

This makes me want to cry... that the world has come to this... teachers having to arm themselves to protect themselves and their kids.

God bless this man for this good work. And may God bless these concerned, responsible teachers for their involvement too.

This is good and I support this 100%. If the corrupt government won't take care of We The People... then we're fully capable of doing it ourselves. All they have to do is get out of the way.

I felt this way too, sober, but as I reflect on it, it seems like the circle is being completed. In the days of yore, when communities were mostly safe and children learned the three R's, I would bet that every teacher knew how to use a firearm. In those days people were prepared to protect themselves and others, and I think that Sandy Hook may have removed the scales from the eyes of those who did not previously see the importance of defending yourself and others. That tragedy perfectly illustrated that "when seconds count the police are only minutes away".

I hope this evolution in understanding expands to other states.

This is all very well & good. Should been started years ago.

However, the STUPID cameraman getting in front of the last shooter you speak of RS, IHMO is just begging for an accident.

NEVER get in front of ANY shooter.....NEVER! (unless of course you intend to take the shot with your own firearm at the shooter)

This camera angle "Drama" is the same crap that distorts proper firearm use in the minds of the uneducated masses.....

I was flabbergasted by the images taken in front of the shooters and the poor range discipline. You would not catch me with that group.
