Thaddeus McCotter announces his run for the presidency

***UPDATE – VIDEO ADDED***

via Detroit Press:

“What we need in Washington is someone who understands that the wave of the future is not big government, but self-government,” McCotter said. “That is why I’m announcing my candidacy today for the Republican nomination to serve as your president of the Unites States.”

Flanked by his wife Rita, daughter Emilia and son Timothy, McCotter said his other son George was at work — “which is something that every American should have a right to do.”

He had chosen the event for his kick-off because he wanted a grassroots venue that was unlike any presidential campaign announcement for the 2012 election, said his spokesman Randall Thompson.

McCotter picked up plenty of supporters in the crowd.

McCotter is most definitely a strong conservative and will be a good addition to the run for Presidency. But he lacks charisma and name recognition and I’m not sure how he will overcome that to get very far. But he apparently feels he can go somewhere so we’ll see what happens.
