The first gay president may lose black voters

I noticed earlier today in the headlines that some famous black icons like Will Smith and Jay-Z were coming out in support of gay marriage. Even Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) came out in support of it today.

This is no coincidence.

In making an announcement that would increase campaign donations from his gay and hollywood supporters, Obama has turned off other parts of his base, primarily black voters. Of course it’s hard to say at this point how much he’s lost, but he has lost some including Rev. Emmett C. Burns Jr. who is known to have political influence as a black minister. He publicly rescinded his support for Obama this weekend and said he was staying home in November (h/t: HotAir):

Also of note is a new poll that came out today that shows that a large majority of people believe that Obama came out in support of gay marriage for political reasons, not because he really meant it:
