***UPDATE – BOEHNER DISMISSES IT***

This is unfreaking believable. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) may find his district much more difficult to win as thugs in the Republican Party are out for revenge over Jordan’s disloyalty to Speaker Boehner:

COLUMBUS DISPATCH – U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan’s open defiance of Speaker John Boehner’s efforts to solve the debt-ceiling crisis could cost the Urbana Republican his safe seat in next year’s election.

Two Republican sources deeply involved in configuring new Ohio congressional districts confirmed to The Dispatch today that Jordan’s disloyalty to Boehner has put him in jeopardy of being zeroed out of a district.

“Jim Jordan’s boneheadedness has kind of informed everybody’s thinking,” said one of the sources, both of whom spoke only on condition of anonymity. “The easiest option for everybody has presented itself.”

Jordan’s rural 11-county district, which has a 60 percent Republican voter index, “is easy to cannibalize because it stretches so far,” said the other source.

Hostilities between Boehner and Jordan, whose districts abut each other, broke out into the open this week as the speaker struggled to line up votes from tea party conservatives in the House for his plan to raise the debt ceiling while cutting as much as $3 trillion over the next decade.

Jordan, a tea party favorite who chairs the 170-plus member Republican Study Committee, has stymied Boehner’s efforts to raise the debt ceiling. On Wednesday, the rift exploded when it was discovered a key aide to the committee sent emails to conservative groups urging them to push undecided Republicans to vote against Boehner’s plan.

The undermining of Boehner was the last straw for Statehouse Republicans controlling the redistricting process in Ohio, saying Jordan’s refusal to be a team player should cost him his job.

“He doesn’t know it, but he solved a problem for Republican line-drawers by (figuratively) standing up and saying, ‘I’m a jerk and I deserved to be punished,’ ” said one of the sources.

Folks, you better buckle up cause we have a lot more work to do in removing these power hungry establishment types out of the Republican Party, both state and federal.

***

UPDATE: Just to be clear, it’s only my opinion that Boehner may be in on this. Great thinkers like Ramesh Ponnuru from National Review Online disagree with me, suggesting that his ‘fan club’ in the Ohio Republican Party may be working on their own. That may in fact be true. But I find it hard to believe in light of Boehner suggesting that opposing his plan would be standing with Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. He is making this about loyalty and not about America and that makes me want to run for the exits.

***

UPDATE: Apparently I missed this yesterday but Boehner released a statement dismissing any idea of retribution for dissenting views:

“Jim Jordan and I may not always agree on strategy, but we are friends and allies, and the word retribution is not in my vocabulary,” Boehner said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to serve with him in the U.S. House after the redistricting process in Ohio is complete, and for many years to come.”

It looks like the Speaker is declaring war on the Tea Party.
Maybe Congressman Jim Jordan should run for Boehner’s seat if they redistrict.
I would donate, I would like to see Boehner out.

At this link: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/07/28/house-gop-sets-vote-on-revamped-debt-limit-bill/ Fox News has an article talking about “BOEHNER’S bill”, but showing a photo of him with a “Cut, Cap’ and Balance” poster talking to Congress. Is boehner now pitching the CC&B bill? Or is Fox News trying to confuse people?

Maybe I’m not following things too well here. CC&B is supposed to have the approval of conservatives, correct? And “boehner’s bill” is something he worked out with reid and obama, right? Which doesn’t solve the problems we’re facing, right? Which is why is why people like Jim DeMint and Jim Jordan are opposing it, right?

If I’m understanding correctly (and I think I am), the Statehouse Republicans and boehner are the ones who need to be punished. Tar (VERY hot tar) and feathers comes to mind. Or flogging, or caning….

The homosexual republicans of the lawyer class (see Doug Preisse, who’s idol is FDR) hijacked the Ohio republican party before the 2004 Campaign. They tied the hands of the Franklin County Republican party when the Marriage Amendment was on the ballot, nearly costing Republicans the White House in ’04. They’ve been driving Ohio into the progressive dust for a long time. The well organized TEA parties of Ohio are the only reason Ohio flipped to Republican in 2010. Yes, the Boehner party loyalty problem goes all the way to the state party level. You can bet Boehner has interests in the state who stand to lose a great deal if real cuts start coming, and teeny little Jim Jordon from a 14 county rural district stopped the gravy train……with a little help.

What really steams me is that boehner has defected to the Left, and he’s adopted their tactic of refusing to listen to the American people. We don’t matter to him at all. He’s not even a RINO any more.

He’s just concerned with… what? I can’t figure it out. It can’t be his job. If we make it to 2012 more or less intact, he’s history. He must have made a deal (he thinks!) with obama or reid for some kind of huge personal, under-the-table bribe.

What else could he possibly expect to result from his betrayal that would benefit him? But then he’d have to be expecting team obama to win in 2012, and unless the election is stolen or obama suspends the Constitution (which could happen), that won’t happen. If you follow me. I think rage is beginning to make me a little incoherent. I’m going to go chew nails until I can calm down a little.

RS, thank you for being intellectually consistent. If people are going to call out Pelosi’s tactics on Obamacare, then you MUST follow suit with Boehner.

This whole thing reeks of Obamacare part II. Maybe, Jordan would like to compare notes with some of the Blue Dog Dems.

We’re going to see an unprecedented re-alignment in both parties. The Republican party as we know it is over – but also, same with Democratic party…

From a Forbes piece as cited here: http://pajamasmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2011/07/27/the-man-without-a-plan/

“The Democratic Party, as we have known it for the past 70 years, is now in its last days.

Yes, the House Republicans may raise the debt ceiling for a mix of spending cuts and revenue raisers. Yes, Barack Obama may win the 2012 presidential contest. Yes, bureaucrats and judges will continue to impose new and costly regulations on the economy.

But it doesn’t matter. The long-term trends are almost all bad news for the left wing of the party.

This week’s fight over raising the federal debt limit exposes a key weakness in the warfare-welfare state that has bestowed power onto the Democratic Party: Without an ever-growing share of the economy, it dies.”

If I remember correctly the Republican Study Committee is made up of the conservative side of the Republican party. Mark Levin did mention that yesterday. He said it was the Republican Study Committee that tries to keep the party to the right of the Rino’s. He also said there was a number of them being targeted for their refusal to go along to get along.

Effectively, what Boehner and Co. are now doing is throwing the Tea Party under the bus, spitting in our faces, and telling us to sit down and shut up. What’s the point of Boehner having such a token debt bill pass??? His own caucus is against it (he still does not have the vote), all Dem senators signed onto Reid’s letter to vote it down, and Obama vows to veto it and Tea Party is admamantly against it? The majority Ametrician and entire GOP back CCB and why can’t Boehner stick with it rather than compromise with a no-win token debt bill?

Rush Limbaugh is more polite with Boehner, but Mark levin is right on point that neither Rep House Boehner nor Senate minority leader McConnels has what it takes-the leadership, mindset and fortitude to lead out of this debt crisis.

  • Anonymous

I don’t know anything about Ohio politics but it seems reasonable to assume there would be negative fallout for Boehner if Jim Jordan’s district was “fixed”. Betcha a buck Boehner would lose enough votes to give him something to cry about.

  • Anonymous

Boehner needs two more yes-votes or some no-votes to abstain.

If all you need are some abstains, smear some blueberry jam on a handful of no-vote bellies.

Here’s the tricky question, can you simply stain the outer garment covering the ab or must the ab itself be stained? I mean, if you have to pull shirts up first, that might be construed as harassment. It’s a quandry for sure.

Yes-votes or abstains, either way, it ain’t purty.

    • Anonymous

Even if he get the 2 more yes votes, so what? it’s dead on arrival for Dem Senate and Obama. It’s just yet another futile failed attempt charades, and he did it on the back of his caucus and the people who voted him in.

Yes, I came out with the conspiracy theory last week that this Boehner plan was really the plan that he and Obama hatched behind closed doors. Then they contrived to “act” like they were mad at each other both continuing the scare tactic rhetoric to get their parties in line and then Obama gets what he wants while Boehner thought he would like like the hero leading the charge to stop Obama from raising taxes. Meanwhile the country continues to sink into a pit of debt while they make more committees to recommend further cuts. What a joke and a complete slap in the face to true fiscal conservatives. Of which there are even a few democrats.

If Tea Party caucus keeps the Boehner Bill from passing, the house can simply reassert and reaffirm their first bill cut/cap/balance. You have your bill, at least allow an up or down vote on it. Boehner wants to be able to say that the repubs passed two solution to the “crisis”. That would be good but Reid would shapeshift the Boehner Bill into The Reid Bill.

Could you imagine what this economy would do if we passed a balanced budget amendment, a flat tax, and O’care was overturned? This country would be on economic rocket boosters. We need Tea Party type reps, senators and citizens. It makes me want to rewrite John Lennon’s “Imagine” into an entrepreneurial, free-market, capitalism, anthem. John lost me at “Imagine there’s no Heaven”. Lovely melody, horrible lyrics.

It was a big, big mistake to have John Boehner appointed as Speaker of the House. I knew from the beginning that he would be a acquiescer [AK-WE-YES-SIR] and a compromiser – compromising PRINCIPLES for POLITICAL EXPEDIENCE.

Boehner is no friend to the grassroot Tea Party activists. He also treats the U.S. Constitution as a “LIST OF SUGGESTIONS”, instead of this nations RULE OF LAW.

How does clever gerrymandering fit the Tea Party’s or ANY plan to fix the politics as usual that we’re all so angry about??? I’m an advocate of very simply shaped voting districts. What’s wrong with squares? Not cute enough? I understand the angst being levied on Speaker Boehner (we’re all frustrated, but he’s in a very difficult hot seat). I think he’s done an admirable job under the circumstances. Let’s face it – this vote on this plan, whichever one it is, doesn’t really matter. The time to get substantive structural changes to spending is now past – and will resume next election cycle. I’m as angry as anyone else that our elected officials saw this coming 8 months ago but procrastinated it to a last-minute cram session. Impossible to negotiate when the other side presents no visible plan. Downgrade seems inevitable now. Default may be a possibility too. But maybe we need to experience both to really get serious about the structural spending changes? I hope not, but I’m nauseated by it. Let’s keep cool heads and quit sniping at each other. Remember, we are the good guys! Save some political ire for next year when it will count more. The next year and a half are a write-off.
