If somebody held a debate in the woods and nobody showed up, would it make a sound?
- http://www.therightscoop.com/ The Right Scoop
if Trump were the moderator, yeah probably

and Trump would bring his own spot lights to light up the sky to be seen as well.

all you really need is Newt Gingrich… He could face his toughest foe yet, himself. I could only imagine how entertaining that would be for Newt Gingrich debating Newt Gingrich.
- http://www.planettron.com NickDeringer
Since Newt thinks he’s the only one smart enough to challenge him it would be kinda like Mr. Spook having a game of 3 demensional chess with himself. Problem is they couldn’t show it on TV in front of small children.

“Trump is a chump” and he needs to shut his mouth and go away…
A third party candidate would only help Obama win and if Trump runs as an Independent I will consider him a traitor to our Republic…
- Anonymous
He has donated to quite a few Democratic politicians. I have thought all along that he wants to do whatever he can, on the side, to help Obama. He is no conservative and never was.
- Anonymous
This would have been great for Santorum. Just he and the Newt.
- http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones
I was really looking forward to Santorum and Newt. Last time Newt debated Cain..Cain did really well and his poll numbers spiked! It’s TIME for Santorum to get his time in the spotlight! He deserves to have a good chance at President, and ALL he needs is an initial boost in poll numbers. After that initial bump, his polling will feed off of itself! By ONLY debating Newt, he will have SO MUCH MORE Camera Time than he has gotten in any debate thus far.
PLEASE Mr. TRUMP! DON’T CANCEL!!!! This is so much more important than me, you, or the candidates. This is about the Presidency, and we need EVERY moment we can get to better understand our potential nominees.

Exactly my thoughts! Excellent idea, Brian!

Last night after listening to Mark Levin I stumbled across a little 20 minute video that changed my support from Mr. Perry to Mr. Santorum. The video was by an evengelical pastor from Iowa by the name of Cary Gordon. He interviewed each of the candidates and after careful consideration came to the conclusion that Rick Santorum would be our nations best candidate to help implement the change this country needs. I thought about that video for a long time and came to the same conclusion. I hope Mr. Trump gives Mr. Gingrich and Mr. Santorum the chance to debate each other one on one in a venue that could change a lot of minds.

Welcome to the club, my friend! I just opted for Santorum too, I really want to vote on principle. Santorum represents Conservatives values and principles!
You mentioned Cary Johnson and I remember seeing him on the same video but here is a portion of the same and very spot on, as Pastor Johnson brought up a few crucial points about Santorum’s integrity in this video:

So, let Newt and Rick do a Lincoln-Douglas style debate, like the recent Newt-Cain one.
Why have Trump’s blessing when he keeps threatening to run as an independent?

Yes, I’d allow that

OK, you can moderate the debate!

I second that. Done.

They should re-enact a Lincoln-Douglas Debate. This time between Santorum and Gingrich! Everybody will be watching.

Very true. I’ve lost respect for all of them not showing up to debate. Newt and Santorum will get Trumps support.

They could have declined the invite but BLAMED it on that unethical CNN weasal Eason Jordan.

Stupid stupid stupid.
They should have dragged that cr@ppy journalist through the mud, not Trump. - Anonymous
What is one more unethical CNN weasel, added to a long list of weasel journalists in the past, who tried to score in bringing down a Republican debate and all the candidates? I even have a new term for these weasels “JourALTERists”. Newsmax is a conservative organization that should be given kudos and acknowledgement of their work. The candidates should take advantage of this debate in bringing another weasel down to his rigtful place.

Light bulbs – incandescent that is…
Light bulbs…
… that’s the solution for Rep. Bachmann to get Trump to again say nice things about her and really turn on the light for on-the-fence Republican primary voters.
Why?
Freedom… to buy or not to buy incandescent bulbs.
On the radio 10 minutes ago, Rush said that our Republic, my word, our Republic is 3 weeks and 1 day from making the incandescent light bulb illegal.
Well, “freedom to by incandescent bulbs” is an excellent campaign statement and a perfect “turn on the lights” opportunity for Mrs. Bachmann to claim the very easy to understand “light bulb” vote of ALL free Republic voters.
PS. Santorum, Gingrich, Perry… are you listening?

I have been stocking up on incandescent bulbs for some time now, just waiting for the day they get banned. When that happens, I will probably be hauled away as a terrorist with the new ‘indefinite detention’ bill. Who, then, will inherit my bulbs?

I do too. A lot of people joke about this, but flourescents trigger migraines in me. I also have an autistic child who can’t tolerate the sound of flourescent bulbs.
Last year I called Bachmann’s office to see what the status was of her fight for incandescants, and nobody could tell me anything.

I forgot about the annoying hum from those. Those curly bulbs make that noise and drove my son nuts too. He’s not autistic, but he’s on the border of asperger’s so even small sounds get to him too.

I seriously don’t understand the clammor to get Trump’s blessing… He’s admittedly voted time and again for big government but now all of a sudden wants everyone to believe he’s a conservative? Perhaps the candidates who didn’t want to participate in his debate simply weren’t convinced of his motives…? He hasn’t, after all, completely ruled out a run against both Obama and whoever ends up being the Republican candidate.

Wouldn’t trouble me if Bachmann said, “No comment.”

Trump is behaving like a spoiled Democrat who is not getting all of the entitlements he is entitled to. Let him cancel the debate – it wasn’t going to be a debate as such, more like a political version of the Apprentice.

Bachmann took too long to decline. It is obvious that she was influenced by all of the pundits and their outrage of Trump.
Newsmax is a legitimate conservative publication, and I am sure that the candidates can negotiate some of the parameters that guide a debate they will participate in.
I believe Trump will ask questions that haven’t been asked before, and I don’t think he would embarass himself by turning it into a sideshow.
If the candidates disagree with Trump’s policies on China or getting tough with oil producing countries (or OPEC), they should debate it.
Trump won’t run. Losing would be bad for his image.
- Anonymous
Besides that, his questions couldn’t possibly be any worse than the likes of CNBC, anyway.
- Anonymous
I agree. Trump could not possibly be a worse moderator than the smirking, closeted Anderson Cooper. I don’t particularly like the Donald, but he’s an intelligent man and I think he has a unique perspective. He’d ask questions that other moderators might not even think of.
I also agree that Trump won’t run. He’d have to give up “The Apprentice”. He’s not about to give up a show that flies at the top of the ratings for a campaign that won’t make it off the runway.
- Anonymous
As a big fan of Bachman I’m very dissapointed that she is not taking advantage of finally getting equal time in a debate.
She is throwing away a unique opportunity to contrast the differences, qualify her bona fides and elucidate how she is the true conservative in the race by going toe to toe with the current front runner.
I think her main problem is that too many have not had a chance to hear what she has to offer.
Oh Michelle such a bad decision!
- Anonymous
Unless, of course, she did not like the results of her visits with The Donald.
- Anonymous
It was just a few days ago that she said she would consider Trump as her VP.
- Anonymous
What is really irking is that these same candidates show-up for of all the debates hosted by the tools on the Left, despite (like Bachman) getting mere seconds to shine, and then turn down a debate where some fairness may actually be practiced.
- Anonymous
I have no love for Donald Trump. I started watching Celebrity Apprentice this past season just to see what it was like. It’s awful. I’m not a big fan of reality shows to begin with but I do like Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Top Chef. I also like Top Shot on History, which I think is the only competition show that’s a real competition. The others are just after ratings. Most of them are fake like Gene Simmon’s show which I also like but only watch if I happen to find it while channel surfing.
But the Apprentice is terrible. I mean this show is really, really bad. They all call The Donald “Mr. Trump” which is ludicrous. I worked for a huge national corporation and no CEO gets called by anything other than his first name. Everybody is “smart”, even brain damaged nut cases like Gary Busey who was kept around for ratings. Awful show, phony as a $3 bill.
But I believe The Donald about Bachmann. I’d bet anything she really did tell him she would consider him for VP. That’s such a woman thing to do.
She should have said yes to this debate. As much as The Donald may not be the greatest conservative in the world, he knows how to pander and he might reach a helluva lot of people with his schtick.
- Anonymous
For someone who is not a fan of reality shows, you sure watch a LOT of reality shows. I have never even heard of the ones you mentioned.
- Anonymous
Just goes to show you how many reality shows there really are. There is even an animated reality show (?!?)
- Anonymous
Well, I have to admit I watch them because they’re on Hulu. Except for Top Chef. I record that one on my DVR. I’m a sucker for cooking shows.

I don’t like the Donald when it comes to politics. He plays both sides of the game, though he seems to be able to ask questions that others wouldn’t. I believe they should show up. Why wouldn’t they go? More exposure, but I don’t know the “Apprentice” ’cause I live in another country. Donald is no conservative.

Santorum is absolutely right about the other candidates hypocritically using Trump…
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/08/santorum-on-trump-debate-no-shows-theyre-hypocrites/
“Many of my opponents jockeyed to be the first to fly up to New York and use Donald Trump for a photo op and no doubt try and secure an endorsement,” the former Pennsylvania senator said in a statement. “But when Donald wants to moderate a debate – they refuse to attend. That’s what’s so wrong with politics today – hypocrisy.”

I don’t see why they don’t attend the debate with Trump being the commentator. It’s not about Trump, it’s about having the opportunity to show America who they are and what they stand for…

If I were running for POTUS, and wasn’t afraid of the skeletons in my closet, and if I truly wanted to President, for all the right reasons, unlike the pretender, I would go wherever I needed to go to gain a platform for my views. I think Trump is egotistical blowhard and is doing this more for his own good than the country’s but I would jump at the chance. With all the reality tv freaks out there, I would be assured of an audience. I would love the opportunity to change minds, because I believe the general reality tv audience doesn’t really have a handle on the issues. For the pure hearted candidate, this would be a gold mine.
- http://www.facebook.com/Lion4Jesus Richard White
Hmm I wonder why none of the other candidates would do this and not go to an a debate NOT CONTROLLED BY THE LAME STREAM MEDIA? Donald Trump may be chump but the guy would totally help all this sickening stupidity that has become of our Presidential campaign race created by those out to destroy the fabric of America. I may not agree with Trump on allot of issues but He is a man who WORKED HARD for what he work for out of college if anyone cares to know how this chump Trump became wealthy….A Sponsored debate by trump would be awesome, that way we can weed out the rinos…. Gingrich and Santorum are not afraid why are all the others? Because the media do not like Gingrich and Santorum hmmm interesting……So is conservativism dying now??
Trump is threatening to call of his debate because only two candidates have said they would show up. The rest have all turned it down:
YAHOO NEWS – Business mogul Donald Trump said Friday he might scrub a presidential debate that so far has drawn only Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.
Trump, the reality television star who has not ruled out an independent White House bid, had hoped for all of the Republican candidates to join in a debate he would moderate Dec. 27 in Iowa. Most have decided not to, leaving only Gingrich, a former House speaker, and Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator.
“I have to look into it,” Trump told Fox Business Network when asked whether he would host a two-candidate debate.
But he seems to be more ticked at Bachmann as he says has helped her quite a bit during the campaign, and she even suggested he might be her Vice President. And now she won’t even show up at his debate, and it appears he’s taking it personally:
If Bachmann admits that she was considering Trump as her VP, that probably won’t help her. But if she says it wasn’t true or that she was joking, I have a feeling Trump will hit back with all guns loaded. Either way, probably not good for Bachmann.
Also, Trump will not let go of the idea that he might run as an independent. This is why Trump is a chump.
