This is one of the reasons I believe the USA is no longer a republic but an oligarchy. We are ruled by a few who the rules don't apply to.
They can carry a gun but we can't.
They have their own health care plan (paid for by the taxpayers) but we get stuck with Obamacare.
They have their own retirement pension plan (again, paid for by the taxpayers) and we get social security.
There's two America's people; the ruling class and the rest of us.
Reid and Feinstein are also two of the biggest hypocrits in congress.
Guns for me, not for thee. BS. You are not taking anything including our guns from us, Americans.
From what I see on cspan and other public statements, these clowns are checking out whether they can ram this thru congress. They are probably figuring out how to do this, so a lot of what we hear is just window dressing and stalling until they see how far they can push it. One site was listing 15 things about the Australian gun ban - the last being that it 'probably' would not work here. So you know they fervently hope it would - which makes them dangerous. The media will push push push it as far as they think they can, because it is a religion with them. That is what makes this seriously dangerous.
If the media idiots had any brains they would ask a followup question to 'why are there more mass murders lately' such as What changed since the 50s and 60s - without comparing apples and oranges. Back then there were uppers and downers, rather than personality changing drugs like Prozac. But it is not like people turn into child murders if they don't get their Prozac. Much more likely that some patients have the opposite of the desired effects. What changed is that Prozac has become commonplace where it never existed before. Of course one could guess that immigration changed things - are we importing an unusually large number of wackos ? Yeah but we have been importing lots of wackos for a long time, and it did not produce any Adam Lanzas, so that is probably not an explanation. Others say nothing can be done because there are always wackos out there, but the issue is that there are more wackos than normal.
Unfortunately I doubt it is practical to develop genetic testing to discover whether someone would have adverse reactions leading to this behavior. And it is speculation because I have no idea whether Adam was on any of this stuff.
As to whether his mother was a jerk. It is often the case that parents can't get it right any more than a psychiatrist can always get it right. Back in the sixties a punk took a potshot at a schoolbus - his father tried the bonding thing and figured that father and son should go fishing and hunting together, so he got his son a .22. That was a mistake. A bunch of vets in town had to go have a little "discussion" with them - like reading the riot act, which appears to have scared the punk out of him.

It is amazing how this issue is slowing blowing up in the faces of the very people that want to control guns. Citizens, in droves, are going for carry permits, gun classes and purchasing their first or additional guns/ammo. A recent report show over one million new conceal carry permits have been issued in FL alone.

I don't have much faith in them either. They make some good statements, but I have heard others say that they are sellouts. Don't really know why though.

The morning news was reporting that the Oregon governor is considering what kind of gun control legislation he wants. This state has been pretty good compared to some, but that may be ending. State ban usually means they want you to get rid of them, and no grandfather clause. I guess we will see.

Just like all these globalist bills used to bring down America, this one was designed, written and ready to be rolled out after the Fast and Furious guns slaughtered US citizens. That fell apart, so they now have this crisis to use.
They obviously "fixed" what was wrong with the last one and the California laws.
The second Amendment is their last impediment. This is it - if anyone has been putting off arming yourself you have very little time.

I know you were just as annoyed as me about not being able to find out who liked any particular comment and now it's fixed. At least it's working for me, hope the same is true for you.

Not yet. We have to go through the arduous task of trying to work within the system while we're still a republic. When that effort fails, and they come for our guns, then we will have to enforce the law, as required by the Constitution.
