Unions disrupt Rep. Frank Wolf’s press conference

Wolf believes they should reopen the bidding on the building of two Dulles Metrorail stations to get cheaper bids. He believes more competition will result in a less cost for the city:

Mr. Wolf also is opposed to a collective bargaining agreement the authority’s board included in the Phase II deal that establishes prehiring terms and conditions of employment. Mr. Wolf has said the agreement will result in fewer bids, which will reduce competition and drive up costs.

Unions. The whole monorail/high speed train movement all makes sense now to me. It’s all about protecting union jobs and potentially bankrupting cities and states with the high costs created by these expensive collective bargaining agreements. It’s also just another way of keeping the unions happy as they elect the hands that feed them.

Here are the unions in action disrupting Frank Wolf’s press conference on the Metrorail system.
