This was one of my favorite parts of the debate last night. Right before the end of the debate, during the last question, Ryan leveled a devastating critique of the Obama administration and their broken promises and lack of leadership that would go virtually unanswered giving the timing of it. And it was amazing.

Watch:

This clip is a bit longer, but I also thought it was one of Ryan’s best moments last night:

my favorite part was when Paul says, you say you aren't attacking the Catholic church, then how come they are always suing you!!! (HHS mandate).

Wish full thinking. What comical self delusion. Biden wiped the floor with this light weight charlatan.

Only if you call lying thru his false teeth debate. Libs are incapable of debate, it requires too much thought, not bullying emotion. Biden is a shameful tool who has sucked off the government teet his entire pathetic life and it's shameful that he ever made it to the office of VP. He is neither a man of morals, nor substance. He is a blowhard, ignorant fool. "wiped the floor"? Really? He was vulgar and rude...appropriate behavior for the mafia, not the office of VP. I'm taking it you're a union tool...this behavior is straight out of their socialist, mob rule handbook.

It's politics not Jane Austin tea dance. The Republicans get laughably delicate when they get a little of their own medicine. I am a not an American but your appetite for the cliches of Ryan is not terribly impressive. Romney an utterly insane choice against a beatable sitting candidate. Republicans are not a serious party.

Where was Paul Ryan on limiting government? I didn't see that. I only saw two statists arguing over the details of how to implement statism on the people. The Left want the entitlement/welfare state, and Paul Ryan wants the entitlement/welfare state. Is this the best that Conservatives can muster? It was pathetic. It was a miserable day for the cause of limited government.

Did the founding fathers advocate an entitlement/welfare state? - No. But Paul Ryan wants it; he thinks it's moral/noble; he wants to protect it and ensure that it continues forever.

Tell me, Conservatives - Where the hell are your limited government candidates? Do you want limited government, or not? Tell me now, or else shut the hell up, get out of the way, and let Libertarians take command of the battle.

If I were an undecided voter, I'd have been so turned off by Biden that the combo of Obama last week and Biden this week would seal the deal on pulling the lever for Romney.

But I'm not undecided. :-)

Thanks for showing the split screen. We don't have cable & watched the debate on PBS. They don't do the split screen. But we could HEAR Biden's chuckling and sighs while the camera was on Ryan. I was aghast.

CNN's Candy Crowley is moderating next Tuesday's presidential debate. Since we don't have cable, I read up on her http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_Crowley . I see on this wiki entry that the participants in next week's town hall debate will be undecideds chosen by Gallup. So, a CNN host will be moderating, and participants selected by Gallup will be asking questions. How do they get away with Left-leaning everything in these debates?

Interesting that even still, the energy and polls are going Romney's way. MSM be damned.

1st clip.... comment on Obama's promise/supposed plan to cut the deficit in half: Obama: "Just words, just speeches."

2nd clip.... Someone wished Ryan had not provided the answer to his question, thinking Biden would't have known the answer if he said, "What is it"? ( I don't know if they were right.)

Scranton, PA 10 percent unemployment today- was 8.5 percent when they came in office. My edit- It's going that way in much of America.

Biden math: Listen, that's not how it's going, it's going down! One of the small number of times where Biden had some serious looks on his face while Ryan was speaking.

Biden said he always says what he means- so that means he is a racist at heart (Indian accent, back in chains comments) and he believes the middle class has been buried the last four years. Perhaps they should do another ad, with him saying the middle class has been buried the last four years and then him saying "I always say what I mean."

Our Country is in serious trouble domestic and abroad and Biden seems to think that the best the Country deserves is a good laugh. He is nothing but a petulant, disrespectful and inept VP. January can't come soon enought to get both of them out of the White House.

Biden also needs to know that the 14% that Romney paid on that money was already taxed at the hightest rate. So he is double taxed!!! Why is no one saying this???? People need to understand that people who make all this money, pay 38% tax plus REINVEST IT, and have to pay taxes on it again!!! They way they make it sound is that regular people get taxed at 28% and the Rich ONLY have to pay 14%. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! Also, we need to keep at this "kingdom" about the DEBT they have added... DEBT = BAD, simple enough?

Paul Ryan hit the ball out of the park, in my opinion. Considering he was interrupted 82 times by the VP and 31 times by the moderator in a 90 minute debate! Biden's condescending behavior is not appealing at all. And, it certainly is NOT acceptable for a person that is number two in charge of the United States of America.

"The president says he has a plan...it's a speech."

"Just words, Just speeches." Barack Obama

Now I find out with a little investigating that O actually used these words from a speech that Deval Patrick spoke in a speech in 2006. O used them almost word for word in his speech in 2008. Watch this side by side. Revealing!

I would like to see a list of fact checks on what Joe "DUFUS" Biden stated during the debate. Just a couple I caught was his statements on his vote against war in Iraq and Afghanistan was an outright lie. His statement that the Obama Administration did not blame the Libya incident on that video, LIE!! The guy was a bloviating ASS yesterday and it scares the hell out of me to think that village idiot is one heartbeat away from the most powerful position on Earth. Please, May God Help US!!!

I think we need an ad showing lefty "journalists" talking about how "mean" Romney was last week, and then it should be contrasted to them jumping for joy over the fact that Biden attacked, interrupted and ridiculed. The crazy lefties won't see the hypocrisy, but the undecideds will.

As much as I dislike Carl Rove, he said something today on FOX that rang true. Ryan was trying to win over the undecided and independent voter last night during the debate, while Biden was trying to win back the liberal base. I'd say they both won in that regard.

Biden (and Obama) can have their liberal base ( and I'll say it's not 47%). We'll take the independents any day of the week.

poljunkie
poljunkie

Exactly. The liberals were probably never going to vote for Romney, but after Obama's poor performance last week, combined with his record they were contemplating staying home. But Joe was sent out to rally them up. Give them reason to believe.

Its amazing what different mindsets we have- because his actions and comments would totally turn me off. But I think he was able to reassure the Dem base.

The Indies hopefully were able to see a measured and confident man in Paul Ryan, and hear a positive message.

I think what stood out in the Obama Romney debate and the Biden Ryan debate is the cheap shots and lies..vs...Class and eloquence...I mean in the first one Obama was so frustrated because he's used to telling his lies about what they will do to the middle class and seniors with no opposition from anyone , just the msm chiming in more lies...Then last night Ryan not only had to say composed, while being laughed at, but he never actually pointed out the lies..you could see his forehead go up when Biden lied about so many things..like taxes, medicare, healthcare and wars he didn't vote for...but he remained calm and knew the fact checking would be done, thank you Karl Rove...I am a little upset , when Ryan had the chance he didn't mention that he didn't believe in infanticide ,like our current President...One thing about Ryan , he always has memorable lines...well thought out..looking at faded Obama posters in the room you grew up in...

Libertyship46
Libertyship46

Perhaps the finest thing you can say about Ryan is that he actually looked, sounded, and behaved presidential. Biden looked and sounded a bit unhinged and I think people were actually scared at the thought that a guy like Biden is actually one heartbeat away from the presidency. Ryan's performance may not have won the election for Romney, but it certainly made it a lot easier for Romney to win. For the country to know that Romney picked a solid, thoughtful, conservative for Vice President makes people feel more confident in Romney's decision-making abilities. But with Joe Biden, you have a disaster waiting to happen. I don't think Joe did Obama any favors in this debate and he may have even hurt him.

Plugs is such a jerk. Ryan comes off as a respectful, decent guy. What a contrast. And Martha...partisan..from beginning to end. Jim Lehrer was way better. Martha has a got a really annoying voice, she growls at times from the back of her throat, kind of like a cat making loud noises while in the process of mating.

I've noticed that same sneering/condescending/laughing sarcastic brushoff every time NObama got a question or comment he didn't like. He always puts on that mock stupid smile when he has no answer. Seemingly Biden got the memo.

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

The exchange about the unemployment rate in Scranton was brilliant. By asking Biden if he knew what the rate was (I suspect Biden did not), and then asking him what it was when he took office, Ryan set Biden up to make himself look stupid.

How can you say, "yes I know the unemployment rate is now 10% and it was 8.5% when I took office" in one breath and then in the very next breath say, "But it's not going up. It's going down." Ryan got Biden to use his own words and Biden knew it, as he looked a bit irritated afterwards.

Ryan did well, given the braying jackass to his right and the hostile moderator right in front of him. What we saw last night was a superhuman effort from Ryan to avoid lunging over and beating the crap out of the old man...I wouldn't have been able to restrain myself.

I was freakishly proud of Ryan for that. Biden was clearly trying to get a rise out of him and tried EVERYthing he could think of (which seems to amount to "Laugh Derisively" - I bet he's been chuckling up a storm these past six days in preparation, the poor thing).

As my teenager would say, Biden = Epic Fail.

One of the most disturbing points for me in the debate last night was when Biden said we have plenty of time with Iran because they don't have a "missile to deliver the payload".

1. Is the plan to wait that long? wow.

2. Does any reasonable person think that Iran or any other rogue country is going to detonate a nuclear bomb via missile these days? No...even a hack like me knows that if we see a detonation (especially terrorist sponsored) it will come by much quieter means.

Very disturbing..

Galatiansch2vs20
Galatiansch2vs20

He acted like they would have the intelligence to detect if there was a weapon that could be used. But Prime Minister Netanyahu already had pointed out it's much easier for us to spot underground facilities where the uranium is being enriched and much easier for our enemies to hide the actual weapon.

And given the alleged failure of intelligence lately, does Biden actually expect the American people to gamble their lives on it?

Sober_Thinking

You nailed it. I was so waiting for Ryan to nail him on that... I was screaming at my T.V. - "Look at all the missile tests they're doing?!?!?!"

You're right... a bomb is a bomb... whether it's delivered in a suitcase, a missile, a backpack carried across the Mexican border, or a boat parked off our coast; it will still kill and terrorize. And for Biden to suggest that we just wait and see is enough to prove that he's an imbecile.

I think Ryan did very well under the circumstances! You could tell he was sincere and took the debate very seriously, unlike the joker beside him.

And I wanted to puke every time Biden said, 'my friend...'

At one point during the debates, I thought I heard Biden call something an 'Obamanation'. I probably heard it wrong but was wondering if anybody else heard it.
