I’m sure you guys are up on the news by now of the Florida Pastor calling off the Quran burning only to then say that it’s not called off, but just suspended. Geez…a ton of news happening today and I am coming in on the tail end of it.
As I was riding in the car today listening to a lot of news on the radio, it seemed like the US was in freakout mode over this whole Quran burning:
The FBI, along with President Obama and Interpol, fear violent protests and terrorist activity if Florida Rev. Terry Jones follows through with his plan to burn copies of the Quran on the anniversary of September 11.
First General Petraeus weighs in, and now the FBI, Interpol, and Obama himself. But why? What’s the concern? Why would there be any level of violence that would concern us this much? After all, Islam is a tolerant and peaceful religion, right? Why would the government be weighing in on this if it were just a small fringe group of people taking Islam ‘out of context’ by using threats of violence because of their intolerance?
It just baffles me that this administration refuses to call our enemy for what it is, Islamic terrorists, but when a pastor decides to burn the Quran, which is Islam’s holy book, they go into freakout mode over threats of violence from….wait for it….Islamic terrorists! Can you imagine this type of elevated reaction if a group of atheists decided to burn the Bible and a group of Christians threatened violence? Heck no! There’s no way it would ever receive this type of reaction because Christianity IS a peaceful religion. No one fears Christianity for a reason! Everyone would know that it’s just a little fringe group that could likely be contained.
Our response to this has be ridiculous in magnitude and I think this whole ordeal tells us a couple of things. One, that the MSM/government is really using this Quran burning as a way to demonize Christianity, and two, that the government knows exactly who our enemies are but would rather cow-tow to them instead of challenging their violent intolerance for whatever reason.
BTW – aren’t our troops already in harm’s way by fighting this war in Afghanistan against these Islamic terrorists? Why would this put them ‘more in harm’s way’?
