“When we took our trip and visited his home country in Kenya”

The LGBT speech below occurred in August, 2008 before Obama had received the nomination. I’m sure this has made it around the net a few times already, but it’s a slow news weekend so I thought I’d give you guys some not-quite-red-meat.

I’ve said before I’m sympathetic to the birthers, but I’m not a birther. That said, skip to 38 seconds. It’s a very interesting sound bite:

Obsessing about his birthplace is missing the point in my opinion. For example would anybody prefer Biden as president? Or McCain? Would that really be a big difference? I say let's not waste our time with these non-issues and get down to what's really important.

The birther thing is great for Obama. It gives his supporters a chance to ridicule and demonize the opposition which is why (I suppose) Michelle had this line included in her carefully prepared speech. They don't want this to go away. It helps them too much.

  • m_quick

It's funny that she said this, but she was probably trying to sound multicultural to a largely gay crowd that likes that kind of thing.

Like the person above me said, the birthplace issue is not focused on the right thing. Who cares where he was born. There are plenty of native-born Marxists and progressives. It's his ideology that is the problem, where was the birthplace for it? Was it with Marx? Lenin? Stalin? Mao? Black nationalists like Wright? Or just a bunch of stoned out their minds radical hippies like Bill Ayers?

I hope to God this issue doesn't alienate the rational opposition to Obamanomics and the Democrat's socialist agenda.

  • Tyler

    Yeah man…multicultural. Haha.

  • TourOfRicky

It won't get any votes for the Republicans (Gays predominantly will NEVER vote for the GOP no matter what), but getting the Feds out of gay marriage permanently will achieve something the Democrats have not been able to do: Stop having government interfere with TPOH. (The Pursuit of Happiness)

Even if the GOP were to finalize gay marriage and overturn Bush's 2004 re-election strategy (making gay marriage a major issue when it's a NON issue),
the gay community would still credit the DNC for it.

Politics aside: Gays can do whatever they want including marry one another.

As for the Birthers. If ever there was a group to 'throw under the bus', I would also push the Birthers in front of an oncoming subway.

It's as simple as that: Obama was American born. At least Hawaii still exists,
whereas the place McCain was born is no longer a U.S. territory!

We all know the truth. It is obscene what this kenyan/British National is doing to our country. If Sarah Palin or any other conservative provided their birth certificate online and said “there it is” now let's move on? WHat do you think the Obama kool aid drinkers would say? I know you know the answer. There has got to be a more decent democrat out there. The moment he or she comes forward they will be demonized and negatively branded as a sell out.

It does matter if our President is a US citizen and yes many of us would prefer Senator McCain as our president.

It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it. — Patrick Henry, St. John's Church, Richmond, Virginia, March 23, 1775.

How can anyone be sympathetic to the birthers, but not be a birther, yet participate in labeling fellow patriots who choose not to shut their eyes against a painful truth and listen to the siren song of the lies being told to cover up Obama's constitutional ineligibility, as “birthers”?

The obots label those patriots as “birthers” and many of you have jumped right aboard their band wagon and joined in with their siren song. You might want to be thinking about jumping off of that bandwagon before their siren song transforms you into beasts.

The speech by Michelle Obama was given before the LGBT Delegates to the 2008 Democrat National Convention, within at least two days prior to the Democrats nominating Obama to be the Democrat party candidate for President in 2008.

The issue whether or not Obama is a “natural born citizen” is absolutely legitimate issue. There is a difference between beeng a citizen and a “natural born” citizen. Glenn told, “let us concentrate on the issue”. We concentrated on the health care issue. Did it help? Obama pushed it down our throats anyway. He will do the same with the amnesty for illigals. This will be the end of the Republic. Do not swallow blindly whatever Glenn says. Question him (he urged us to question everything). And do not forget that Glenn called Geert Wilders a fascist. It created an uproar on the internet. I repeat, Obama's eligibility is totally legitimate isssue. Get more information on www. wnd.com, http://www.canadafreepress.com and other sites.

A patriot transformed into a beast would push fellow patriots in front of an oncoming subway.

I have know idea why some of you idiots are trying to justify what she said. DEon't you think she's a big girl and knows what she said and she said it as articulately and as naturally as saying her daughters names…that's because she's lived with him for 22 years and has heard him say it repeatedly over those years. It's called a Fraudian slip. You're obviously in denial and don't want to think about ramifications of what it means knowing the truth and she spoke the truth. So grow up or don't Post in an Adult venue because you obviously aren't thinking like a mature adult.

Your mentality is why this country is going to hell and moving toward fascism. It's not a matter of comparisons. Our United States Constitution which is my homes foundational document is absolute and if you don't think so then you're not an American. I'm a Veteran and I swore and oath to defend My United States Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic <— that means Americans that don't believe in the Document that allowed this country to become the greatest country on the Planet and in the history of the world. I suspect were heading for another revolution in this country do to attitudes like yours.
