Not only do Democrats demand that there be no entitlement reforms in this ‘fiscal cliff’ deal, but now they are saying that they want the debt ceiling increased but don’t want any spending cuts to go along with it:

MARKET WATCH – House Speaker John Boehner’s hard line on increasing the debt ceiling in the fiscal-cliff negotiations is “deeply irresponsible,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said Thursday. Responding to Boehner’s earlier comment that there would be a “price tag” for hiking the debt limit.

“Asking that a political price be paid in order for Congress to do its job to ensure that the United States of America pays its bills and does not default for the first time in its history is deeply irresponsible,” Carney said.

So basically they want tax increases on the wealthy and an increase in the debt ceiling, and they are only offering their word that they will deal with the other stuff next year.

Well, if it keeps going this way then there will be no deal, and that is the best thing at this point.

It's "the Obama way" or no way at all. He was re-elected by voter fraud and still thinks he is the self proclaimed Messiah, and he is the "alpha and the omega."

A good friend told me that he overheard a conversation with a fellow parishioner who is also a voter poll rep. He witnessed an African American return to the polls several times throughout the day to vote, and we all know that she voted for Obama. This is only one isolated incident, we can imagine how many more situations like this actually happened.

IMPEACH OBAMA, he is a liar and a fraud.

Democrats are just shameless. News flash hahaha. Congress needs to do its job so the USA can pay its bills???? What bills have been paid you uneducated idiot? Does your dumbass know why we have so much debt? Cause we don't pay our bills!!!

When Bush was President, Senator Barry was singing a different tune (as usual).

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ‘s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America ‘s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

Rush is right... the Republicans should just walk away.

We all knew this was going to happen... they lied all through the last 4 years and NEVER kept their promises. The Democrats think they are invulnerable and can easily get away with doing whatever they want... and America approved that bad behavior by voting this monster back into power.

Same ol' crap from the Dems. Let's go over the cliff. If Republicans do this Obama will get everything he wants and Republicans will never see the Dems fulfill their end of the bargain. I'm tired of the Dems doing this and Republicans falling for it.

As I said, I think Republicans don't "fall" for it. For the same reason that Democrat voted yes on Obamacare because Obama promised that he'd make an executive order banning the government from paying for abortions. He knew it was a joke, but he was looking to give himself an out and an excuse to vote for a bill that his constituents don't want. Republicans will give this to Obama and tell us we got what we wanted....although it will never materialize.....and they know it. They are looking for an out.

This is a test of credibility for Boehner and the Republican party. If they cave again for a bad deal like this, I'm done with them.

Sure, when George H.W. Bush agreed to tax hikes with the promise from a Democratic Congress to "cut spending later," how did that work out for him? Bush never got the spending cuts that were "promised" and he lost his bid for re-election. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Forget it. Get the cuts up front NOW, or else you'll never see them from a lowlife like Harry Reid.

Of course they do. They want dictatorial rule. Let's call it what it is. Do not negotiate with these Leninists. That is what they are.

I think this just might be the straw to make the GOP will dig in their heels. The American people want spending cuts.

I don't know why anyone bothers to call this whole process a "negotiation". Its nothing of the kind. The Carney clown and his "messiah" have no interest in any kind of compromise. Compromise to a socialist Dhimirat is more like "my way or the highway". its always politics over country. They are the nomenclatura...the bourgeois.

This country was stupid enough to elect these marxist fools again. Then let the fools reap what they sow. Maybe when they feel some real pain they'll wise up.

I am not surprised. The Republicans need to say no deal. If the Democrats and obama manage to go around the House which controls spending. then let them own it and may God watch and protect those of us who tried to do the right thing.

OK, now I agree with Mark Levin and Newt Gingrich. It's time for the GOP leadership to walk away and tell the American people why. There is no deal to be had, only supplication to the tyrant.

The proposed tax increases will fund the government for 8 days. Without spending cuts, the debt will grow to $20 Trillion. There are no spending cuts being proposed.

The House should pass their own bill with nothing but spending cuts (no tax increases) and send it to the Senate. PERIOD!

WhiteGuy2

Just as I thought. More debt, higher taxes, no spending cuts = Recipe for disaster.

We would be better off going over the cliff. Either way our credit rating is going down and the markets will take a beating.

“Asking that a political price be paid in order for Congress to do its job to ensure that the United States of America pays its bills and does not default for the first time in its history is deeply irresponsible,” Carney said.

How is raising the debt ceiling 'paying it's bills'? So can I tell my credit card company that if they don't raise my credit limit, even though I won't pay on my credit card, that it is "irresponsible" on their part? Because I won't be able to spend more unless they do.

I saw a billboard a few years ago that actually said this:

"Borrow all the money you need to get out of debt"

I tried to work that out on paper and the math broke.

It's political blackmail and economic hogwash at the same time.

Obama can turn on the printing presses and print as many dollars as he likes.

Inflation?

He doesn't care!

Inflation will hit all those "rich" people who've been saving, who actually paid off their debts, who are old and on restricted incomes - all people Obama wants to get rid off, one way or the other.

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

Yep. Those printing presses are spinning even as we speak, to the tune of $40 billion/month (QE3), and no one even sees it happening. Out of sight, out of mind. Only the fiscally astute see that inflation is ramping up all the time due to it. Being one of those retired people on a fixed income and dependent on my IRA for additional income, I know all too well where I'm heading. :(

colliemum
colliemum

Yeah - tell me about it!

We're in the same bind over here, with the added 'joy' that for years the interest rates on our savings stand at 0.5% p.a.

Try and go for a better deal, and you can't get at your money without lengthy negotiations and reductions and fees, because you've got to lock your savings in for three or five years. So if you need it now, say because the gales have damaged your roof (no, not mine, thank God), then you're in trouble.

And the official inflation rate is a swindle, because they 'update' their 'basket' of things one buys, so that cheaper PCs mean less inflation. Fuel prices are not in that calculation, nor are many food items. We had a food inflation rate of 11% last year. Well, if I'd bought an iPad every month I wouldn't have noticed, according to the government ...

Do you have any interesting recipes fo iPads???

It costs alot of money to transform America ..half this country is fine with a spendaholic who wants more money anyway he can get it to teach the successful a lesson..So we will have the first President who will not have a budget for eight years..but will find ways to steal from any wealthy people to not pay down the debt, but increase the debt beyond the unpatriotic debt he has already piled up..Listen to their words , they don't care about the debt, but they do care about having money to blow..

Democrats have yet to offer a single concession in the spirit of compromise. Yet the media will blame Republicans for their refusal to compromise if they don't cave to every Obama demand. We live in an upside-down world thanks to the Democrat takeover of the media.

Obama and the dems have sniffed out that the republicans are weak and fearful, and on the point of caving in, so like all thugs they now double down: give us the tax increase, and give us the increase of the debt ceiling or else ... and the republicans will shiver with fear and do as they say.

However, as I keep saying, the dems, in the lust for power and driven by their desire to ride roughshod over the republicans for political gain, are overlooking that the Rating Agencies are watching. Higher taxes, higher debt ceiling and no sensible plan of dealing with debt and deficit means a downgrade is coming. Bank on it.

That means higher interest rates serving the national debt, higher interest for all the borrowing by the government, and less money for government projects. That all will have consequences for the economy.

The best for the Republicans is to vote 'present' and let the dems own the coming economic disaster.

No tinkering, no deals - just walk away.

I remember the outcry when the AMT crept up and started hitting dual-income working couples/families.

Rollback the Bush tax cuts. Roll 'em all back. Let a few million people have to write a 4-figure check to Obama's IRS goons instead of getting a nice comfy refund.

Rshill7

I would love to be able to write a 4 figure check to the IRS. It beats a 5 figure check all day long. We write 4 figure checks to the state government for crying out loud. I'm sick to death of it :-(

This is the first year we'll be able to utilize the "catch-up" provision in our SEP IRA. Gonna jump all over that.
