You are obviously, the result of some seed donor, after the year 1980, by which you would have no knowledge, that until the early 1970′s, we DID have such a thing called as “the draft”, and if it were in place today, anybody below the age of 35, was considered fair game!

1. I’m fully aware that there was conscription in the United States for most of it’s existence.
2. The country did not give me my education, that is the product of my own inquiry, opportunities provided by my parents, and the time spent with professors. The most collectivistic you could assign the source of my education would be K-12, to which I would only owe gratitude to Brevard County and Florida at most.
3. The fact that there was conscription in the US up to 1973 does not change the fact that it is involuntary servitude, which is another word for slavery.
Section 1 of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
“Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”4. In case you forgot, the entire purpose of the Constitution was to shield individuals’ freedom from usurpation by the state and federal governments. That you wish to ignore this or discard it when it fits you is telling.
I also don’t expect it to shield me from anything, nor do I even accept the authority of the government established by it, or the document itself. The government violates it’s own rules multiple times every day on a whim for it’s own convenience or at the behest of the intersubjective consensus, so it is an ineffective shield at best. At worst it is a distracting artifact that people expect to protect them, so they are lax in defending themselves from the State.
The point of citing the document is that Conservatives love the Constitution. Conservatives hold the document up as sacrosanct and demand it be respected to the very literal wording of it. I’m pointing to the Constitution to hold Conservatives to their own standards.

I believe that you are mistaking the word conscription for something that it is not.
Conscription is not involuntary servitude:
1. compulsory enrollment for national service: the obligatory enrollment of citizens in the armed forces
Even if you are “Drafted/conscripted” you are paid. You do not give up any rights of a citizen of the United States. There are perimeters put upon your movements, etc. but if you believe that conscription was involuntary servitude then you probably went along with the other idiots who called returning Viet Nam veterans’ baby-killers.

Payment is irrelevant. Your assumption that I call Vietnam veterans baby-killers is not a logical conclusion. Why would I condemn the slaves more than the masters holding their chains?
Were atrocities committed? Yes, that’s the standard of everywhere in human history.
Were they committed by both sides? Yes, just as before.It’s generally understood that soldiers aren’t fighting for some lofty political goal when metal is flying past their face, they are fighting for their buddies and survival. They knew they had been caught w/their hand in the cookie jar, and instead of cleaning it up and apologizing they tried to defend their action. In all the video coming out of WI at least these dip shits remained calm, unlike the thugs and goons act, they tried to have an intelligent conversation w/the gentleman even though they are incapable of such a thing. Classic delusional granola heads that are clueless thinking they are cool protesting something they don’t even understand. And to think this is what our military is supposed to be protecting so they can have the right to protest. Disgusting.

I am a Veteran. I served in peacetime as a Marine so I am not a combat veteran. As a Marine my interest was always more directed toward the Pacific campaigns in WWII, but have recently become fascinated with the other branches involvement in WWII and particularly with “D-Day”. While many wars have been considered controversial, WWII efforts from top to bottom is not one of those wars. I appalls me to think of how these Dems can call Scott Walker “Hitler”, and then disregard a memorial to those that paid the ultimate price for us all, including themselves. It reminds me of a quote from a movie, “you want the truth?, you can’t handle the truth”. The fact is they want all the benefits that were secured with real blood and through their ignorance both disregard, and disrespect those that shed it.
We have (had) a system in place to elect officials to represent us. I appears that my conservative vote really doesn’t count in Wisconsin today. I hope it does tomorrow!
