Zelaya Confirms His Return on Sunday

I can only assume he is returning to escalate the situation as Micheletti has vowed to arrest him as soon as his steps out of the plane:

Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya has confirmed to a television news station that he will return to his country on Sunday, and do so with “several presidents” of allied countries.

“I am planning my return to Honduras… we will arrive at the international airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with several presidents, (and) members of international organisations,” Zelaya told Caracas-based station Telesur on Saturday.

“This Sunday we will be in Tegucigalpa,” he confirmed.

I think Zelaya wants an armed conflict to put himself back in power.  With presidents from other nations being on the tarmac when the arrest happens with guns drawn, this could certainly be the cause of outrage from their respect countries.  And if Zelaya is imprisoned by the government that ousted him, other countries may want to react with force as the situation will become more desperate.

Either way, this situation doesn’t look good.  I can only hope this incident doesn’t cause bloodshed.
