If we outlaw plastic bags, what will happen to Pelosi, Debbie Downer, and the other Dem Congresswomen?
Pretty soon it'll be like the big box stores where they don't even HAVE bags. You just have to throw the sh** in you trunk. A big turn off for me. So I never go anymore. And always ended up spending way more than I bargained for.
Who needs a brick of toilet paper anyway, big enough for small children to play in. A little off topic, sorry.
It's not as if trees were ever harvested solely for paper bags. Paper is made from what is essentially a by product or waste product, of the lumber industry, sawdust and wood chips, which are turned into pulp and from that into paper. It should also be mentioned that the brown paper is environmentally friendlier than any alternative as it is not bleached, is easily recycled into other paper products (even a second life as a paper bag) and when it does eventually reach a landfill, it breaks down very rapidly, also when combined with yard clippings it makes a very efficient mulch. What is really amazing that this knowledge does not come from the environmental movement, but from the timber products industry itself, demonstratively one of the most environmentally conscience industries around as it depends on sound management and maximizing the use of its raw materials.
Reusable bags are a horrible idea.
They can spread diseases. This has been proven by a flu outbreak traced to one of these. They far more often spread other diseases.
They have to be washed to prevent this and this cost more than the bags they replace in hot water and power to dry them.
They are thrown away at some point and are difficult to recycle.
The plastic bags are dirt cheap to make. Some are made of recycled soda bottles. Besides the Bag contains far more trash than the bag weighs.
As people pointed out, plastic bags were supposed to be to save trees. At first they gave a choice- paper or plastic- remember those days? Now, with the trying to do away with plastic bags for free and get people to use reusable bags you buy, there is a concern you have to clean those reusable grocery bags properly and often or you could potentially get sick.
As someone who lives where trees are extremely plentiful and they grow up like weeds in places you don't want them in the yard, I say let's go back to paper bags- or at least give a choice at all stores of paper or plastic. Don't expect people to properly sanitize reusable grocery bags each time they are used.

We can't see the sky for the canopy of trees in my neck of the woods. And it's a liberal hell hole, so you know they destroyed the logging industry around here...but, that's what liberals do.
I live in the state where a song line says "greenest state in the land of the free". I'm sorry the logging industry was destroyed where you live. That's a shame.
Those aren't single use bags...they have been recyclable for years! If you don't use them for other things, you can take them back to the grocery store and put them in labeled bag bins that are recycled. Will the lefty drones ever get a clue?
The left isn't happy unless they can ban something while at the same time destroying jobs and industry...they get a 2fer that way.

Instead of encouraging individual responsibility the liberals just want to ban it so you don't have a choice in the matter for whatever facet of life it is. They want to ban guns instead of having responsible gun owners, they want to ban large soda size instead of people being responsible for their own weight. The list goes on and on.
Bag control, soda size control, tobacco control, seatbelt control, gun control... let's see, what do all these things have in common? I'll have to call Mr. Obvious and see if he has any answers.
The ban on plastic bags has a lot to do with the big nanny state government regulating your life. The environmental excuse is only an excuse to further the cause of regulating as much of your life as possible.
Ban on plastic bags in California, ban on Big Gulps in New York. Every government prohibition is a black market opportunity.
I think hollywood wants to do away with plastic bags because it is reducing the amount of plastic available to inject into their breasts and under their skin in their never ended vain desire to try and stay young.
I'd believe that before I'd believe that they give a rip about the environment! Have you ever been to L.A.? What a filthy polluted mess! The Hollyweirds live there and yet they want to lecture us on what grocery bags to use! Tell ya what...when they clean up that mess...they can give suggestions!
It doesn't just stop with babies. I've heard nutty environmentalists say that we need to reduce the population of earth to a trillion people. Obviously people have to die, so I propose that they volunteer and go first.

In Santa Cruz, CA where they have had the "bag ordinance" in usage for a while, people aren't washing the re-usables between each use and there are cross-contamination issues, resulting in some nasty health problems attributable to food-borne illnesses that were not occuring before. Eugenics for dummies 101.
Lunacy. They want to call us extremist for wanting to follow the Constitution, limit the size of government, and limit spending? Thank G-d this is just a lunatic fringe group. Other than the fact the environmentalists have the Democrat party bought and paid for.
We are naturally headed toward population decline but there are leftist groups that want to push the issue. Also eugenics is in the health care mandate.

Didn't they originally ban paper bags for plastic bags (to save the trees)? Now they want to ban plastic bags for 'green' bags (to clean up the environment). Next they'll want to ban 'green' bags for whatever (to eliminate the green dye in the world, I suppose).
If we just banned liberals, we would have been good from the start.
They'll start fining stores for not using the invisible bags that haven't been invented yet.
The liberal argument is that plastic bags don't disentigrate and stay trash for a long time. I always find a good use for plastic bags at home and when traveling and packing boxes. But at the end of the day, I always end up with a lot more plastic bags than I need, so I have a million under the sink that I can't use, some of which will end up being thrown away.
The liberal argument that brought us plastic bags in the first place was that paper bags killed too many trees! They can't make up their fricking minds!
Butter is bad! Too much colesteral! Eat margerine! No, no, margerine is bad, trans fats! Eat butter! Like that?
With liberals, we're dealing with people who have no clue how to exercise common sense. Their egos are so over-inflated (check bo) that they truly believe their ideas will solve the worlds's ills. Remember bo stating this is the moment the rise of the ocean began to slow, the earth began to heal....That IS what we are dealing with!
Good gawd....they're stark raving mad, so for them to tell you what's good for you one day and bad for you the next, is nothing.
We just have to keep exercising our God given freedoms while we can.
Oh yeah. And then there's eggs--eggs good, eggs bad, eggs good again! I eat butter, I eat eggs, and I don't care what the liberals decide is good or bad for me. I do avoid simple carbs/sugar, eat lots of protein---it works for me, so "they" can KMA!
And then there's ethanol! We make fuel out of our vast corn crops-fuel that is NOT one bit efficient and then we import corn from our enemy, the Chinese!! I have a flex fuel vehicle (only because it was the only one that had everything else I wanted) There's not a station anywhere on my side of town that carries E85 fuel-by the time I drive 20 miles each way I've burned any cost savings, PLUS MPG goes down quite a bit with ethanol. I talked to one of the scientists I worked with who specializes in fuel, and he said he is not sold on ethanol. That's all I needed to hear.
Right, Paper bags, Kill trees, bad. Plastic bags, last for 100 years made from petroleum, really bad. Reusable shopping bags, made in third world sweat shops, okay?
Am I missing something here, besides the fact that liberalism is a major brain dysfunction?
