ZoNation: Why are Perry and Romney attacking Cain’s fairer method of taxation?

Zo defends Herman Cain’s 999 plan saying that it will end up being more in line with what the founders intended, as it eventually ends up as a consumption tax:

Herman Cain is taking heat for his plan to throw out the entire tax code and replace it with his 9-9-9 Plan (9% income tax, 9% business tax, 9% sales tax). Zo takes issue with the income tax, and for this reason, he is concerned about 9-9-9, but he likes the fact that it is nothing more than a transition to a fairer form of taxation.
